Explore the Llŷn Peninsula with Aled Hughes
One of the official guidebooks is available in the Welsh language.
It covers the Llŷn Peninsula section which is 110 miles / 180km long. It is one of the longest sections of the entire Wales Coast Path and enjoyed by lots of people. This book is ideal for local and long-distance walkers. By offering an official Welsh language guidebook for the path, it gives visitors the opportunity to learn about it in the native language of Wales. It’s also a great way for Welsh learners to improve reading Welsh in a practical way.
Follow Aled’s journey along the Llŷn Peninsula
BBC Radio Cymru presenter Aled Hughes has walked the Llŷn and the Snowdonia coast section using the guidebook along the way. Although he now lives in on Anglesey, Aled has deep roots in Pen Llŷn which have helped him revisit some familiar and well known places along the path.

Aled will be giving a talk about his journey at this year’s Eisteddfod near Pwllheli. With his boundless enthusiasm and energy for the Welsh language and history, we’re certain that you’ll be inspired to follow in his footsteps.

Expect lots of local stories intertwined with interesting facts about the area as he shows off some of the most iconic views of the entire Wales Coast Path. His passion for this area in Wales is infectious and he will make you dig out your walking boots and follow in his footsteps before long.

Llwybr y Morwyr
Aled also walked the Llwybr Y Morwyr (The Mariner’s Way) which connects the coastal town of Nefyn to the village of Abersoch. It follows well-trodden paths used by mariners of the 19th century. It’s 11 miles / 17km long and is fully waymarked with Llwybr y Morwyr footpath signs. You can pick up this trail at Nefyn and Abersoch on the Wales Coast Path.
The Ecoamgueddfa website includes a guide to The Mariner's Way which includes a map with points of interest and a downloadable GPX file of the route to use on a GPS (global position system) device.
